Weather forecast for the Asia-Pacific region
Associated Press
2009-07-26 11:26 AM
A low pressure system is forecast to bring considerable rain to Japan's main island of Honshu on Monday, although the intensity of the downpours should diminish as the day progresses, with showers expected by the end of the day.

Shanghai is expected to experience the brunt of a storm over the East China Sea, while very moist flow from the South China Sea will continue to pour into southeast China, allowing monsoon precipitation to fall in the area.

Mild conditions are expected through the Sea of Japan region, while typically warmer air will remain over southeast China.

Temperatures in Tokyo and Shanghai will peak in the lower 30s Celsius, while Seoul be in the upper 20s C.

A front moving away from Australia's east coast and into the Tasman Sea will bring showers gradually moving northward up the coast to Brisbane.

A second front will sweep through the Bass Strait region, bringing some showers mainly south of Sydney. A large high pressure system will extend from Cape Leeuwin through the rest of the country, bringing dry weather to the rest of the country.

It will be generally cool in the south, and milder in the north. Sydney will see temperatures in the upper 10s C, while Melbourne be in the mid 10s C and Brisbane in the lower 20s C.
