Taiwan is set to experience showers and thunderstorms Monday due to two tropical low pressure systems. The first is forecast to move slowly northeastward into the Pacific Ocean from the east of the island, while the second will head for Taiwan from the South China Sea.The second system, which has the potential to develop, will also bring rain and thundery conditions to parts of the Philippines.
Further north, rain can also be expected from Shanghai to the southern tip of South Korea, although the heaviest downpours associated with this storm are forecast to all over the southern Yellow Sea.
Japan is forecast to remain dry but for some isolated showers over Honshu and Kyushu islands.
Temperatures in Tokyo will hit the lower 30s Celsius, while Shanghai and Seoul will be in the upper 20s.
A low pressure system and associated front will push across Australia's Bass Strait, bringing moderate to heavy rain to Tasmania and Melbourne. Cold air behind the front will ensure a cool morning and afternoon in the area. Another front will approach the same area late in the day and will renew precipitation into Tuesday.
A high pressure system in northern Australia will bring dry conditions to the rest of the country.
Sydney and Melbourne will be in the upper 10s C, while Brisbane will rise into the lower 20s C.
