Taipei, Aug. 21 (CNA) President Ma Ying-jeou said Friday that his administration's "no unification, no independence, no use of force" approach has allowed Taiwan to simultaneously maintain relations with both China and the United States. "This raises the possibility for the three sides to come to a win-win or win-win-win solution," Ma said.
Also, Ma said his administration's effort to improve cross-Taiwan Strait relations over the past year has made security ties between Taiwan and the United States less complicated.
The president made the remarks while receiving Howard Berman, chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives' Committee on Foreign Affairs.
Ma noted that he called Berman during transit stops in the United States last year and this year and was impressed with the attention paid by Berman to the implementation of the Taiwan Relations Act.
Congressman Berman, along with his colleagues Eni F.H. Faleomavaega, Jack Kingston, Ruben Hinojosa and Diane Watson, arrived in Taipei on Thursday for a three-day visit.
