India opener Virender Sehwag will resume playing cricket in a domestic match in October, four months after undergoing shoulder surgery.Sehwag was selected in a Rest of India team on Wednesday that will play Mumbai for the Irani Trophy from Oct. 1-5 in Nagpur.
He has been sidelined since injuring his shoulder during the Indian Premier League in May and being ruled out of India's Twenty20 World Cup squad.
Sehwag also missed the recent limited-overs series in Sri Lanka and won't play in the upcoming Champions Trophy in South Africa.
India opener Gautam Gambhir was also forced out of the series in Sri Lanka with a groin injury and will be assessed for the Champions Trophy on Thursday.
