Andre Akono Effa and Germain Tiko scored Saturday to give Cameroon a 2-0 victory over South Korea at the under-20 World Cup.

Akono Effa found the net with a free kick in the 19th minute, and substitute Tiko doubled the lead in the 64th by heading in a free kick from Olivier Boumale.

Brice Owona and Jacques Zoua both had chances to increase Cameroon's lead in the first half, but squandered chances when they only had goalkeeper Lee Bum Young to beat.

South Korea's Koo Ja Cheol hit the post in the first minute of the Group C match.

Earlier, Germany beat the United States 3-0 in the group opener.
