Spain's Albert Montanes won the final of the BCR Open Romania on Sunday defeating Argentine player Juan Monaco in two sets 7-6 (2), 7-6 (6).Fifth-seeded Montanes played more consistently through the match which lasted two hours and ten minutes. He took the first set by easily winning the tiebreaker.
However, Monaco came back aggressively in the second set breaking Montanes' serve to take the first three games. Leading 5-2, Monaco tumbled and hurt his right leg which seemed to take the edge off his game.
Montanes went on to win the next three games, taking it to 5-5. Monaco won his next service game and looked like he might break Montanes' next service game but the Argentine made several unforced errors and Montanes won his game and stayed in the set. Montanes pressed on and won the second-set tiebreaker.
