Munich's liberal Jewish community says it has chosen architect Daniel Libeskind to build a new synagogue in the southern German city. The Beth Shalom community said Monday that Libeskind will arrive in Munich in mid-October to examine the land that has been chosen as the site for the new synagogue.
The plans come as a further sign of the revitalization of Munich's community, which now numbers 9,200 members, the second-largest in Germany after Berlin's.
The city also boasts a new complex with a Jewish museum and a new synagogue and community center.
