An 89-year-old white supremacist charged with killing a security guard at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum has arrived at a prison for an evaluation of whether he's competent to stand trial.A spokeswoman for the Federal Bureau of Prisons says James von Brunn arrived Friday at the Federal Medical Center in Butner, North Carolina.
Earlier this month a judge ordered von Brunn to undergo the evaluation requested by his lawyer despite von Brunn's objections.
Von Brunn has been indicted on charges including first-degree murder in the June 10 death of Stephen T. Johns, who was black. Four of the charges carry a possible death penalty if von Brunn is convicted.
Von Brunn was struck near the ear when other guards returned fire, but had healed enough to appear in court.
