Accused Holocaust museum shooter at prison in US
Associated Press
2009-09-29 01:17 AM
An 89-year-old white supremacist charged with killing a security guard at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum has arrived at a prison for an evaluation of whether he's competent to stand trial.

A spokeswoman for the Federal Bureau of Prisons says James von Brunn arrived Friday at the Federal Medical Center in Butner, North Carolina.

Earlier this month a judge ordered von Brunn to undergo the evaluation requested by his lawyer despite von Brunn's objections.

Von Brunn has been indicted on charges including first-degree murder in the June 10 death of Stephen T. Johns, who was black. Four of the charges carry a possible death penalty if von Brunn is convicted.

Von Brunn was struck near the ear when other guards returned fire, but had healed enough to appear in court.
