For the third consecutive year, The Netherlands Trade and Investment Office and Tainan City Government are organizing the Tainan Holland Days, which again will take place in the Tree House museum in Anping on October 24 and 25.Moreover, on October 17 and 18, for the second time the Holland bike days will be held. The bike tour will bring the participants along the major Dutch historical sites in and around Tainan City.
Last year 23,000 persons enjoyed the special Dutch games for kids, the typical Dutch food, and the performances. This year the Holland Days will be bigger than before, taking advantage of the expanded Tree House site. There is much to see and to do. Performances on stage throughout the day, a special puppet show, a real Dutch wooden shoe maker, photo sessions for everyone in traditional Dutch clothes, Dutch food tasting, Miffy, Dutch cheese, typical Dutch games and much more.
Free entry but a low fee will be asked for taking part in some games, for dressing up in Dutch clothes, for the food and for a lucky draw with interesting prices. The profit we hope to make will all be donated to the victims in Tainan County of the Morakot disaster.
New is the participation of the Siraya National Scenic Area Administration. The Siraya tribe had many interactions with the Dutch in the 17th century. In fact the Siraya were the first Taiwanese meeting the Dutch. New is also a small dairy farm.
The organizers are grateful to Evergreen Hotel (for preparing and selling all Dutch food in both weekends, for charity), Giant (for sponsoring the bike days), KLM, Heineken, Brabantia, Miffy, Mr. Cheese, E.Sun Bank, Douwe Egbert, Almere City, Frenchtop Natural Care Products.
The Holland Days are expected to attract more people than last year, as will do the bike Days. Holland lovers might be advised to taste some of the many good Dutch dishes, served in Evergreen Hotel throughout the month of October and they might also consider visiting the October Dutch Design exhibition in Eslite bookstore.
"I will personally participate in all events and hope meeting many Taiwanese and foreign visitors on October 17/18 and October 24/25," says Menno Goedhart, Representative of Negtherlands Trade & Investment Office.
