The mayor of the Colombian capital of Bogota says suspected leftist rebels have killed two municipal officials 60 miles (95 kilometers) east of the city.Mayor Samuel Moreno says at least three gunmen in camouflage wielding assault rifles removed the two council members from a meeting in a rural area of Sumapaz about 1 p.m. Sunday. He says the bodies of the two were later found riddled with bullets.
Moreno tells Colombian television the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia is suspected. He is offering a $26,000 reward for the killers.
President Alvaro Uribe, helped by billions in U.S. military aid, has largely rid the capital region of rebels but the FARC has recently stepped up killings of town councilmen in outlying areas.
