The Western Pacific will continue to see active storms Saturday as tropical storm Lupit moves westward over the northern Philippines. This system will lose strength as it moves over land, resulting in winds between 39 to 73 mph (63 to 117 kph). Lupit will obtain much moisture from the South China Sea and spark heavy downpours over Pacific islands. To the north, high pressure that has hovered over China has started to push eastward over the East China Sea and the Sea of Japan. This will allow for warm and mild conditions over most of these ares, with mostly sunny skies in Hong Kong and Shanghai and temperatures of about 80 F (26 C).
Beijing and Seoul will be cooler with highs near 70 F (21 C), and both will continue to see plenty of sunshine.
To the east, moisture will move into the region from Lupit and Tokyo will see overcast skies with highs in the mid-60s F (mid-teensC).
In Australia, high pressure hovering over the Great Australian Bight will continue bringing dry, warm, and mild weather over the continent. A few coastal showers will develop over Western Australia. Sydney will remain mostly sunny on Saturday with highs in the upper 70s F (mid-20s C).
