Sidney Crosby's third career hat trick helped the Pittsburgh Penguins became the first NHL team to 10 victories this season, and ended the Montreal Canadiens' four-game winning streak by 6-1 on Wednesday.

Crosby had his third multiple-goal game in 12 starts this season for Pittsburgh. Chris Kunitz also scored and assisted on all three of Crosby's goals. Mike Rupp and Alex Goligoski added goals, and Bill Guerin had three assists.

Marc-Andre Fleury made 23 saves, allowing only Tomas Plekanec's power-play goal.

Islanders 3, Rangers 1

At Uniondale, New York, Islanders captain Doug Weight, in his first game back following a bout with swine flu, earned an assist on Kyle Okposo's tiebreaking, power-play goal late in the second period.

Matt Moulson and John Tavares also scored, and Dwayne Roloson stopped 34 shots in the Islanders' first regulation win of the season. P.A. Parenteau, in the Rangers' lineup only because top scorer Marian Gaborik sat out because of an undisclosed injury sustained two nights earlier, scored his first NHL goal.

Blues 5, Hurricanes 2

At Raleigh, North Carolina, David Perron had two goals, Yan Stastny and Jay McClement scored 16 seconds apart, and Chris Mason made 34 saves for St. Louis.

Andy McDonald also scored for the Blues. Joe Corvo and Scott Walker scored for Carolina.

Sabres 4, Devils 1

At Newark, New Jersey, Clarke MacArthur and Tim Kennedy scored early in the first period, and Ryan Miller made 31 saves to help Buffalo improve to 4-0 on the road.

Paul Gaustad and Jason Pominville iced the game with third-period goals. Defenseman Andy Greene scored on a power play for New Jersey.

Coyotes 4, Blue Jackets 1

At Columbus, Ohio, Martin Hanzal, Zbynek Michalek and Robert Lang scored power-play goals, and Jason LaBarbera made 31 saves for Phoenix.

James Vandermeer also scored, and Keith Yandle had three assists.

Derick Brassard scored for Columbus.

Senators 4, Panthers 3

At Sunrise, Florida, Nick Foligno and Jarkko Ruutu scored in a 38-second span late in the second period in Ottawa's win over Florida.

Mike Fisher and Daniel Alfredsson also scored, and defenseman Filip Kuba added two assists after missing the previous eight games because of a lower-body injury.

Steve Reinprecht, Stephen Weiss and Bryan McCabe scored for Florida, which has lost four straight.
