Morocco has ordered the expulsion of a Swedish diplomat it accuses of handing an official Moroccan document to a rebel movement working for the independence of Western Sahara.The Moroccan Foreign Ministry says the diplomat, Anna Block-Mazoyer, committed "serious breach of diplomatic practices and an unacceptable professional error."
Morocco claims the Western Sahara, and the issue is sensitive.
The ministry says Foreign Minister Tab Fassi Fihri summoned Swedish Ambassador Michael Odevall Wednesday to inform him of the decision.
Boris Vasic, a spokesman at the Swedish Foreign Ministry, said "there is currently an ongoing diplomatic dialogue about this." He was unable to say Thursday whether the diplomat had already left.
