Taipei, Nov. 7 (CNA) The renovated Lukang Assembly Hall and fragrant osmanthus artistic village opened Nov. 1 with a series of winter tour activities.

Distinguished guests invited by Changhua County government's Cultural Bureau and Lukang Township Hall cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony.

The winter tour activities included a creative fair and craft show on Oct. 31, Nov. 1, 7 and 8. In addition, a children's fair will be held on weekends at several locations, including Lungshan Temple and tourist center.

Lukang Assembly Hall, with its distinctive western style architecture, was designated as a historic relic by the Changhua County government in 2000. The renovation of the building was completed in March this year with funds allocated to the county by the central government.

The county government's Cultural Bureau has in recent years made every effort to promote the rich cultural heritage of Lukang, which is seen as an ancient cultural capital.

The bureau has completed projects to renovate Lungshan Temple, Fongshan Temple, Lukang Gate and Lukang Assembly Hall. It has also completed the registration of other cultural assets such as Lukang Eryunzhai nankuan music ensemble, tin craft, traditional wood carving and lantern color painting.
