A round-the-island march that was organized by former Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Chairman Lin I-hsiung to promote the concept that the "The People Are the Boss" kicked off yesterday, with the aim of pushing the government to seek the public's approval for its policies toward China.

The participants will walk around the island over a seven-week period to urge the government to put major cross-Taiwan Strait policies and agreements to public referendum and thus give more power to the people.
