Weather forecast for the Asia-Pacific region
Associated Press
2009-11-09 11:20 AM
A low pressure system will produce another day of wet weather in eastern China on Tuesday. Heavy rainfall is expected along the coast near Shanghai and Hangzhou in the morning as low pressure exits into the East China Sea. The system will also fuel shower activity in eastern China through the afternoon, and bring heavy rainfall, strong winds, and thunderstorms on Kyushu and more moderate rainfall to Shikoku and southern Honshu. It will become more widespread in the evening and cover much of southern and central Japan.

High pressure will keep much of the Korean peninsula under fair and dry conditions, with a few light showers possible near the Sea of Japan coast.

Seoul and Tokyo will see temperatures in the upper 10s Celsius, while Shanghai will rise into the lower 20s C.

Stormy weather is expected in the western Pacific Ocean due to Tropical Storm Twentyfive. The system is expected to weaken into a tropical depression as it curves northeastward. While the storm will not make landfall on Tuesday, it will continue to produce plenty of rainfall and thunderstorms during its progression through the open waters.

For Australia, dry and warm weather is expected across much of the eastern half of the nation as high pressure exits the Great Australian Bight and treks toward Tasmania. A few light scattered showers may develop along the Queensland shoreline through the day. Additional pockets of showers are expected in Western Australia due to lingering low pressure.

Sydney will see temperatures in the upper 20s C, while Brisbane will rise into the mid-20s C.
