Mexico's immigration agency says it will collaborate with the International Organization for Migration to provide more help to returning migrants. The Geneva-based migration group will provide financing and technical support to help better coordinate efforts by Mexican state, local and federal governments and aid groups.
The National Immigration Institute said Thursday said it will work jointly with the organization on pilot programs to help migrants fit into their home towns when they return.
The Mexican government currently greets most returning migrants with minimal aid and orientation, such as handing out small packets of food.
