Prince Charles and Camilla have ended their 11-day Canadian tour, planting a ceremonial oak tree at Parliament and bidding farewell to Prime Minister Stephen Harper.The royal couple boarded a jet Thursday in Ottawa, Ontario, after a tour that took them from Canada's Atlantic to Pacific coasts and included participation in the national Remembrance Day ceremony.
Earlier in the week, Prince Charles' visit to Quebec was disrupted by anti-monarchy protesters who pelted soldiers with eggs.
Queen Elizabeth II is the symbolic head of state in Canada, a member of the British
Commonwealth of former colonies. Canadians are generally indifferent to the monarchy.
It's the 15th time Charles has toured Canada, but the first time with Camilla.
