Vagif Javadov scored one goal and set up another Wednesday for Azerbaijan to beat the Czech Republic 2-0 in the playoff for third spot at the United Arab Emirates International Cup.

Javadov headed in a free kick from Elvin Mammadov in the 24th minute. He then sent a dipping corner for substitute Daniel Akhtyamov to double the lead in the 88th.

United Arab Emirates meets Iraq in the final of the four-team tournament later Wednesday.

Azerbaijan attacked for most of the game and was more solid in defense, but neither side created many chances.

The youthful Czech team finished last after also having lost in a penalty shootout to the UAE after a scoreless draw at fulltime.
