The Softbank Hawks of Japan's Pacific League have acquired South Korean third baseman Lee Bum-ho, the team announced Thursday.Lee played for South Korea at the World Baseball Classic in March where he posted a .400 batting average with three home runs and seven RBIs in eight games.
"It's an honor to get the chance to play for the Hawks," Lee said in a statement on the team's official Web site.
Terms of the contract were not released.
The 27-year-old infielder batted .284 with 25 homers and 79 RBIs this season for the Hanwha Eagles in the Korean pro leagues.
Lee becomes the second member of South Korea's WBC team to sign with a Japanese club this offseason. The Lotte Marines signed Kim Tae-kyun last week.
