Changhua County hosts mullet roe festival

Taipei, Nov. 19 (CNA) The Changhua county government hosted a mullet roe festival at Wangkong fishing port Nov. 14 to mark the harvest of one of the county's specialities and promote the local fishing sector, a county government spokesman said Thursday.

County Magistrate Cho Po-yuan presided over the opening ceremony of the festival and hailed the fine quality of the golden-colored hand-prepared delicious dried and roasted roe, which he said has "conquered the hearts" of both Taiwanese and foreign visitors.

Mullet and oysters are important products of the central Taiwan county.

In addition to enjoying mullet roe and an oyster shell -painting activity, visitors to the festival were also entertained with performances by famous TV actors, popular singers, bands and a fireworks show.
