Sheraton Taipei Hotel honored with three World Travel Awards
Provider
For the third year in a row, the Sheraton Taipei Hotel has won three top honors at the 16th Annual World Travel Awards. Nominated as Taiwan's Leading Business Hotel, Taiwan's Leading Conference Hotel, and Taiwan's Leading Hotel, the ballots were cast worldwide and the results were announced November 7th in London-the Sheraton Taipei Hotel won first place in all three categories. This is the third year that the hotel has won in all three categories.

Hailed by the Wall Street Journal as the "Travel industry's equivalent to the Oscars," the World Travel Awards are the most comprehensive and most prestigious awards program in the global travel industry today. The voting campaign reached a total of 167,000 travel professionals worldwide, including more than 110,000 travel agents.

Taiwan's Leading Hotel - It's all about service.

The Sheraton Taipei Hotel is committed to bringing the very best in services and facilities to all of its guests. The dedicated and friendly staff, together with the finest in guestrooms, and conference and dining venues makes the hotel popular with both local and international guests.

Josef Dolp, General Manager of the Sheraton Taipei Hotel stated, "The Sheraton Taipei always smiles and welcomes guests in a warm and approachable way; shows understanding of our guests' needs and provides meaningful services; connects emotionally with each guest; and creates a comforting and relaxing environment. We feel personally accountable for taking care of things quickly and effectively, improvise with ease and thoughtful judgment."

Taiwan's Leading Business Hotel - Catering to special needs.

Part of the service that was introduced in the hotel was the Executive Butler Service which added professionally trained butlers to the Executive Floors, providing the ultimate in personalized service to guests. Butlers are part of a permanent Butler Department and all butlers, consisting of both male and female butlers, were trained by the Guild of Professional English Butlers.

Guests on the Executive Floors also enjoy use of the spacious Sheraton Club Lounge where a permanent kitchen team of three chefs prepare an extensive breakfast and happy hour menu. And for VIPs, business executive pick-up, or wedding parties, the hotel offers a Bentley Continental Flying Spur limousine.

Taiwan's Leading Conference Hotel - Professionalism in planning and execution.

Emphasis on service carries through to meeting arrangements and is why the hotel also ranked as the leading conference hotel. The hotel's highly professional staff takes the headache out of meeting planning. If it's a conference for 1,800 or a seminar for 20, the hotel has the venue and the state-of-the-art equipment you need to make that meeting a success.

2009 was a banner year for the Sheraton Taipei Hotel and brought with it a host of challenges and opportunities. In February, Daihatsu Motors (Japan) sent three incentive groups totaling 1,400 persons to Taipei who enjoyed the hospitality and facilities of the Sheraton Taipei. This was followed in March by the Amway Incentive Tour Cruise from China, which brought 12,000 participants in three groups. The large-scale catering requirements not only proved a challenge but also provided valuable experience for our executive chefs and service staff who carefully planned, designed and executed this huge event.

In September, Taipei hosted the 2009 Deaflympics, and the Sheraton Taipei was chosen to host the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf. Three hundred national representatives from 97 countries met in the hotel's Grand Ballroom just prior to the event. Inspection for the site of the conference was held in 2008 with the Sheraton Taipei Hotel being chosen over all other hotels in Taipei.
