Italian team Azzurra won the Louis Vuitton Trophy Nice with a 2-0 victory over Emirates Team New Zealand in the final on Sunday.The New Zealand team entered the final as the favourite after winning the eight-team round robin stage and losing only one match in 10 starts. But Azzurra won the first race by 25 seconds and had a 17-second advantage in the second.
Emirates New Zealand skipper Dean Barker said "Azzurra was clearly better than us, they did everything right."
Synergy Russia Sailing Team took third place ahead of TeamOrigin of Britain.
The Louis Vuitton Trophy is a new world circuit of America's Cup-class yacht racing. The teams will meet again in March 2010 in Auckland, New Zealand.
