General Motors Co.'s top European official says he expects an Opel plant in Eisenach, Germany to remain open _ meaning none of Germany's four sites would be shut in the restructuring plan.Nick Reilly said Wednesday that GM's plan for Opel and sister brand Vauxhall sees Eisenach as "a significant resource for the production of (Opel) Corsas for the long term."
Reilly already indicated on Tuesday that two other German plants, in Bochum and Kaiserslautern, will remain open. Earlier Wednesday, he underlined the continuing importance of Opel's biggest German plant, in Ruesselsheim.
Reilly did not give details of plans for Opel and Vauxhall plants outside Germany. He has said there likely will be up to 9,500 jobs cut across Europe.
