The Orlando Magic leapfrogged the Atlanta Hawks to take top spot in the NBA's Eastern Conference with a 93-76 win on Thursday.

Dwight Howard had 22 points and 17 rebounds and Vince Carter added 21 points for the Magic, who wiped away the disappointment of a one-point less to Miami the previous day, and notched its sixth win in seven games.

Atlanta lost its chance to match to tie Phoenix for the NBA's best record, dropped to 11-4. They missed a chance to improve to 8-0 at home for the first time in 16 seasons.

Joe Johnson had 22 points for the Hawks, which is now a half-game behind Orlando for the Eastern Conference and Southeast Division lead.

Jazz 105, Bulls 86

In Salt Lake City, Carlos Boozer scored 28 points on 12-for-14 shooting as Utah ended a run of three defeats by Chicago.

Deron Williams had 21 points and six assists for the Jazz, while Boozer also had eight rebounds, five assists and three blocks.

Luol Deng had 26 points and eight rebounds for Chicago.
