India's opening batsmen Gautam Gambhir will miss the third test against Sri Lanka next week to attend his sister's wedding, the Indian cricket board said Friday.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in a statement that Gambhir had been granted permission to skip the final test in Mumbai, so that he could be present at his sister's wedding in New Delhi.

Narainswamy Srinivasan, the BCCI secretary, said the national selectors decided against bringing a replacement into the squad, but will instead choose from the remaining 14 players who were in the squad for the second test.
