Toyota will suspend sales in Japan of two hybrid models with the same brake problem as the Prius while it develops a repair, the government said yesterday.Toyota is pulling 10,820 Sai sedans and 12,423 Lexus HS250h hybrid vehicles in its home market."The repair service is not ready, therefore the company will suspend sales of those models for the time being until late February or early March," a transport ministry official told reporters.
The company is also recalling 199,666 of its newest Prius model, along with 159 plug-in Prius cars leased to corporate clients, taking the total number of hybrids being pulled in Japan to 223,068.The problem has been fixed in Prius cars produced since last month.
