Taipei, March 9 (CNA) Taiwan has donated a decommissioned F-5 jet fighter to an air museum in the United States for public display, the Ministry of National Defense (MND) said Tuesday.

The MND said it received a written request from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in December 2008 for a decommissioned F-5 jet fighter to be donated to Yanks Air Museum in California.

The aircraft was shipped from Keelung harbor last November and arrived in the United States in January. The inspection and transportation costs were paid by the U.S., the MND said.
