MediaTek was cut to "neutral" from "outperform" by Macquarie Group Ltd. analyst Jimmy Hsu. Realtek Semiconductor Corp. (2379 TT) slid 6.8 percent to NT$72.50, the most since June 15, 2009. The chip designer's second-quarter net income was NT$551.10 million (US$17.19 million), according to calculations by Bloomberg from figures released by the company.
Siliconware Precision Industries Co. (2325), the world's third-largest chip-packaging and testing company, retreated 3.9 percent to NT$32.20, the lowest since March 4, 2009. The company's second-quarter net income fell to NT$1.51 billion from NT$2.56 billion in the same period a year earlier.
