Greece to use military to restore fuel supplies
Associated Press

A government spokesman says Greece will use military trucks and navy vessels to restore fuel supplies cut by a strike that has hurt industry and tourism at the height of vacation season.

Spokesman Giorgos Petalotis told the AP the emergency plan would take effect "as quickly as possible" to insure that vital public services were not affected by the protest in its fifth day Friday.

Earlier, striking truckers said they would continue their protest in defiance on an emergency order to return to work.

Police says clashes broke out at an oil refinery in northern Greece, where strikers tried to block a government-seized truck from leaving.
