Pakistan has staggered to 147-9 at stumps on day two of the first test in reply to England's 354, still needing 8 to avoid the follow on.

James Anderson took 5-49 and Steven Finn 3-20, while Shoaib Malik was Pakistan's topscorer with 38 from 53 balls, with six fours, before bad light stopped play at Trent Bridge on Friday.

Earlier, Mohammad Asif took 5-77, as England lost its last six wickets for 17 runs.

Eoin Morgan was out for 130 while Paul Collingwood departed for 82.
