Taipei, Jan. 7 (CNA) German automaker Mercedes-Benz said Monday that it sold 13,392 vehicles in Taiwan in 2012, making it the top European luxury car seller in Taiwan for the fourth straight year. The carmaker said 2012 was its best year in Taiwan, with two records created in the month of December alone. A total of 1,444 vehicles were sold in December last year, the highest number by month and by the month of December, the carmaker said. The carmaker also sold 3,638 units in the fourth quarter of 2012, which was the highest volume by quarter during its presence in Taiwan. The company attributed its sales success to its hot-selling offerings, including the G-Class cross-country vehicle it launched at the 2012 Taipei Auto Show and the B-Class and A-Class small family cars. Despite its sales success in 2012, German automobile manufacturer Volkswagen topped all European carmakers in the number of vehicles sold in Taiwan in 2012, selling 13,596 in total.
