Taipei, Feb. 8 (CNA) The Executive Yuan announced Friday that Jennifer Wang, a National Chengchi University professor, will serve as vice chairwoman of the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC). Wang will fill the post vacated by Lee Jih-chu, who will serve as chairwoman of the Chunghwa Post Co. The Executive Yuan said that in view of the fact that the FSC is currently pushing for cross-Taiwan Strait financial operations, it is seeking Wang's expertise in risk management, pension insurance, insurance finance, accounting and balance management. Wang, who holds a Ph.D. in risk management, insurance and actuarial science from Temple University in the United States, is currently associate dean of National Chengchi University's College of Commerce and a professor of its Department of Risk Management and Insurance. "I want to do something for the graying society," Wang said, especially as the public is currently greatly concerned about the government's controversial pension reform project. Meanwhile, the Executive Yuan also announced that Yan Jeou-rong, currently chief secretary of the Public Construction Commission, will serve as the commission's vice chairman. The Executive Yan said that after southern Taiwan was devastated by typhoon Morakot in August 2009, Yan was assigned to oversee the Eighth Army Corps in its disaster relief and reconstruction work, and completed the task in just 50 days.
