The Swiss ski federation has appointed two Austrians to key jobs after a disastrous World Cup season ahead of the 2014 Sochi Olympics.

The Swiss federation appointed Rudi Huber as its new Alpine director and Walter Hlebayna as men's head coach.

With Austrian Hans Flatscher already leading the women's team, Switzerland has employed coaches from its traditional Alpine rival in three important roles.

Swiss Ski says Huber will initially focus on the men's team "to calm the situation," after a season with no World Cup race wins and no world championships medals.

Huber formerly worked for equipment manufacturer Atomic, which supplies Swiss former overall World Cup champion Carlo Janka and current overall champion Marcel Hirscher of Austria.

Hlebayna was coaching Austria's men's team in the second-tier Europa Cup.
