Taipei Literature Festival to feature words through images

Taipei, April 4 (CNA) The Taipei Literature Festival this year will feature a number of films adapted from literary works to help audiences rediscover the beauty of words through images, the organizers said recently. At the festival, there will be 80 screenings of 15 films from countries such as Japan, South Korea, the United States and France beginning April 20, according to SPOT-Taipei Film House, one of the organizers. The movies will include the Swedish thriller "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest," the Brazilian-French road film "On the Road" and the Japanese drama "Rebirth," which won 11 awards at the Japan Academy Prize last year. The film screenings will be held until May 4 at SPOT-Taipei Film House and Spot Huashan cinema at the Huashan 1914 Creative Park. The Taipei Literature Festival, features a diverse lineup of other events such as literature lectures and an exhibition on the life of writers in Taiwan. The annual festival, under the theme this year of "Cross Over to Reading," has invited writers from Taiwan and abroad to speak on topics ranging from poetry, painting and design to travel and adventure, according to Taipei's Department of Cultural Affairs.
