Taipei, Nov. 2 (CNA) Police and immigration officials in Tainan announced Saturday that they have cracked a ring suspected of forcing female foreign workers into prostitution for illegal gains. Huang Chun-fang, the head of a task force set up by the National Immigration Agency's Tainan branch, said Tainan police discovered on July 23 that a foreign laborer on the run traveled from Hsinchu to Tainan by train to entice another migrant worker on the run into prostitution in Hsinchu. Based on the information, the task force of law enforcement officers searched the houses of the main suspect and the two foreign women and raided the place where they worked on Oct. 30.
The raids led to the arrest of the main suspect, a man surnamed Wong, three pimps and an escort agency operator, and also resulted in the rescue of five female workers from Indonesia who had left their original jobs in Taiwan.
