Taipei, Dec. 15 (CNA) The rubber duck will not be turning around any way, after Keelung organizers announced Sunday they have given up on a plan to spin it when it meets the public in the northern port city on Dec. 21. Huang Ching-tai, the city council speaker and organizer of the famous yellow duck's tour of the city, said he had dropped the rotating plan as it contravenes its creator's idea of simplicity and tranquility.

"Out of our respect for Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman's idea of creating the piece of art, we have decided to given up on our plan to make a 360-degree rotation of the rubber duck," Huang said in a statement issued Sunday night.

The rubber duck, which has created a craze in Kaohsiung and Taoyuan earlier this year, will be accompanying visitors at the Keelung port in its typical quiet, simple and innocent gesture, he said.

The giant rubber duck is slated to become a tourist attraction in Keelung through Feb. 28 of next year. (BY Wang Hung-kuo and S.C. Chang)
