Taipei, Dec. 16 (CNA) Hong Kong actor and singer Andy Lau, on a one-day whirlwind visit to Taiwan to promote his new film, expressed the hope Monday to cooperate with Taiwanese rock band Mayday in future film or music productions. "I have always paid attention to Mayday and know that they have made a 3-D music film," Lau said at the premiere of his 3-D action thriller "Firestorm" in Taipei. All five members of the band attended the premiere to show support for Lau, who appeared earlier this year as a special guest in a video shown at the band's "Nowhere" world tour stop in Hong Kong. Lau said he hopes to talk with band members about potential opportunities after they finish their upcoming tour in Europe and North America. In the new movie, Lau plays a senior police officer who struggles with his morality as he tries to hunt down a gang of criminals. The actor performs various stunts, such as car crashes and jumps off a building, in the action-packed film. "Firestorm" was converted into a 3-D movie by Taiwan's White Rabbit Entertainment, Inc. In a press conference earlier Monday, Lau, also a joint producer of the film and one of its investors, revealed that he chipped in 500,000 Hong Kong dollars (US$64,484) to make a 3-D short film to convince another investor to turn "Firestorm" into a 3-D movie.
