Nov. jobless rate fell to 4.16%; Oct. real income falls to 15-year low

The Bureau of Statistics, DGBAS, released the latest unemployment figures for November on Monday, showing that unemployment fell to 4.16% from 4.24% of October. The seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate for November hit 4.15%, lower than the 4.17% seen in October.

According to DGBAS, unemployment totaled 478,000, down 9,000, or 0.08%, from October; involuntary unemployment due to business contractions or shutdowns in November declined by 2,000.

The latest unemployment rate in Hong Kong hit 3.3% (Nov.), while it was 2.9% in South Korea (Nov.), 1.8% in Singapore (Sept.), and 4.0% in Japan (Oct.), according to DGBAS.

At the same time, the DGBAS also released the average of monthly inflation-adjusted (“real”) income in the first ten months of this year at NT$45,112 (US$1,503), falling into the record low in the past 15 years due to rising inflation. And the average of monthly regular real income during the 10-month period stood at NT$36, 690, lower than the NT$37,150 seen 15 years ago.
