Los Gatos-based Tela Innovations has filed a complaint against a Taiwan manufacturer at the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) for unfair trade practices stemming from patent infringement. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited (TSMC) denied the allegation of infringement, saying the company will take necessary legal actions to protect its interest.

According to media reports, Tela Innovations has issued patent claims against TSMC over its integrated circuit design associated with power minimization and energy efficiency on computer, server, television, mobile phone, and tablet.

TSMC indicated that Tela had worked with TSMC on developing the Open Innovative Platform (OPI) in the past, but both sides had terminated the partnership in May this year. TSMC added that now the case is under judicial process and the company will protect its own interest with proper legal actions.
