Taipei, Jan. 5 (CNA) The South Korean-Chinese boy band Exo caused a huge stir at the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport on Sunday after the 12-member band arrived for a whirlwind two-day visit. The popular band, which is visiting Taiwan to tape a Lunar New Year television show, was greeted by over 1,000 screaming fans in the airport lobby. Even before their entry, many fans, who had taken the same flight from South Korea in a bid to follow their idols closely, were seen taking snapshots of them as they passed through the immigration check. Several fans also clashed with security guards as they were standing on chairs and concrete planters in the airport lobby to take photographs. Members of the band waved and greeted fans in Chinese before leaving the airport. They are expected to end their stay in Taiwan on Monday. Formed in 2011 in South Korea, the band consists of members from South Korea and China and had released music in both Korean and Mandarin. The band's debut studio album XOXO sold over a million copies to become South Korea's best-selling album in over a decade. (By Bien Chin-feng and Christie Chen)
