PARIS (AP) -- Two French private car services that kept operating during a taxi strike say assailants attacked their vehicles, throwing paint, slashing tires, breaking windows and injuring at least one passenger.

Monday's strike snarled the highways to Paris' Roissy and Orly airports as taxis, driving at a crawl, blocked lanes. At least three cars from the services Uber and Chauffeur Prive were attacked, the companies said.

Taxi drivers went on strike protesting what they claim is unfair competition from upstart companies. They complain private drivers are untrained and unvetted.

Susanne Stulemeijer, a spokeswoman for Uber, said one passenger was injured by glass from a smashed window. A second attack left the car splashed with paint and windows broke. The company blamed taxi drivers for the violence.
