MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) -- Somalia's new prime minister has named a larger Cabinet after weeks of arguments and delays.

Prime Minister Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed said early Friday that the president has accepted his 25-member Cabinet, up from the 12-member Cabinet of the previous government.

Many of the ministers are holdovers from the previous government. Two of the ministers are women.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud hailed the new Cabinet as a "government of many talents." Mohamud said the government faces "formidable" challenges and needs to extend security, improve public services and accelerate public finances reform.

Mohamud called on parliament to approve the prime minister's Cabinet selections.
