Taipei, Jan. 20 (CNA) An industrial research and development organization on Tuesday cut its 2014 growth forecast for the output value of Taiwan's manufacturing sector, citing global economic uncertainties. The sector's output value is now expected to grow by 3.09 percent to NT$17.72 trillion (US$588.55 billion) in 2014, according to the forecast by the Industrial Economics and Knowledge Center (IEK) under the government-sponsored Industrial Technology Research Institute. In October 2013, the IEK predicted that Taiwan's manufacturing output would grow by an annual 3.42 percent in 2014 to NT$18.14 trillion. (By James Lee)
