President Ma makes first visit to Sao Tome and Principe

Sao Tome, Jan. 24 (CNA) President Ma Ying-jeou arrived in Sao Tome and Principe Friday on the first leg of his three-nation diplomatic tour. Immediately after being given a formal welcome with full military honors at Sao Tome International Airport, Ma headed to the Presidential Palace to meet with President Manuel Pinto da Costa. This is Ma's first visit to the African ally during his more than five years in office. He will visit another African ally, Burkina Faso, before traveling to Honduras in Central America to attend the Jan. 27 inauguration of Honduran president-elect Juan Orlando Hernandez.
