Taipei, Jan. 25 (CNA) Over 4,000 fans of Japanese messaging service LINE flocked to an exhibition Saturday in Taipei that is dedicated to the creative process behind the making of its flagship characters.

Event-goers posed for photos with popular life-size LINE characters -- including Brown, Moon and Cony. "My favorite character is Brown. He looks so cute," said 11-year-old Yeh Shih-chien, who came to the exhibition with her family from Kaohsiung in southern Taiwan.

Not yet having her own cellphone, Yeh said she borrows her mother's to check out the latest updates of Brown, a bear character.

The application currently has 17 million registered users in Taiwan, its third-largest market in the world. The exhibition is the first and largest of its kind worldwide, according to organizers.

Besides "interacting" with LINE characters at the event, admirers could see about 70 blueprints that went into the making of the characters, which have never before been put on public display. It is hoped that the exhibition, which will run through April 27 at the National Taiwan Science Education Center, will attract more than 1.6 million visitors, organizers said. (By Lee Hsin-Yin)
