STOCKHOLM (AP) -- Sweden's Foreign Minister Carl Bildt says he will visit Iran in early February, a result of the country's improved diplomatic relations with the west.

Bildt wrote on his blog Sunday that he will travel to Iran directly from the Munich Security Conference next week, where he will also hold official talks with Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

Bildt's trip follows a visit by Italy's Foreign Minister Emma Bonino in December. He said Poland's Radek Sikorski also plans to go and that the EU's foreign affairs chief Catherine Ashton is "discussing a visit."

The improved relations follow Iran's agreement in November to cap its uranium enrichment in return for the West easing sanctions. Bildt said it remains to be seen whether the changes in Iran's foreign policy will last.
