Train derails in Nantou, no one injured

Taipei, Feb. 1 (CNA) A train derailed in Nantou County, central Taiwan, early Saturday, fortunately no one was injured, according to the Taiwan Railways Administration. The train, with four carriages, left Checheng, in Nantou County on 5:51 a.m. for Ershuei, in Changhua County on the Jiji line. However, its third carriage jumped off the rail on 6:18 a.m. when the train was running between Shueili and Jiji, said the administration. The train grinded to a halt after the derailment and no one of the 20-odd passengers onboard were injured, said the administration. Train traffic on the 30-kg line was suspended after the incident until 12:36 p.m. when the derailed car was put on the track and again and pulled away. The reason of the derailment was under investigation, said the administration. (By Maubo Chang)
