Lille's slump continues with 1-0 loss at Nice in French league

NICE, France (AP) -- Lille extended its slump by losing 1-0 at Nice in the French league on Sunday.

Nice defender Mathieu Bodmer diverted in Christian Bruls' volley with a backheel flick on the stroke of halftime.

Despite the defeat, Lille remained in third place but saw its lead over Saint-Etienne cut to one point after picking up just two draws and three losses from its last five league games.

Lyon visits Rennes later on Sunday while Marseille hosts Toulouse.

Paris Saint-Germain extended its lead atop the league to five points by defeating Bordeaux 2-0 on Friday.

On Saturday, it was: Lorient 2, Monaco 2; Bastia 3, Guingamp 2; Evian 1, Ajaccio 1; Reims 2, Montpellier 4; Saint-Etienne 3, Valenciennes 0; and Sochaux 1, Nantes 0.
