Taipei, Feb. 5 (CNA) Generally cool and wet weather is forecast islandwide for Wednesday as the Lunar New Year holiday concludes, the Central Weather Bureau said. Still under the influence of seasonal winds that brought daytime high temperatures down by some 10 degrees the previous day, Taiwan could see a similar weather pattern throughout Wednesday, the forecasters said. The mercury could hover between 15 and 21 degrees Celsius in northern Taiwan, 15-24 degrees in central Taiwan, and 19-25 degrees in southern Taiwan, according to the bureau. Northern and eastern Taiwan could see showers, with the rain expected to ease off from Thursday, it said. Another cold front, however, could start affecting Taiwan from Friday, bringing more rain to areas as far south as Changhua, the bureau said. Over the weekend, daytime lows could stay between 12 and 14 degrees islandwide, except for southern parts of the country, it said. (By Lee Hsin-Yin)
